One headlight flickered. The manual said to reverse the polarity of the capacitors. I did. Then one of them exploded and started smoking. Spewed liquid all over. Took capacitors off and installed relay. Lights work fine. Time to change my underpants.

Leaking blinker fluid, common issue.

That's why I'm running Honda OEM ballasts and a set of Bosch relays on the Mazda's HIDs.

No projectors? Welcome to poverty beams.

looks like it has projectors. HID in a refloctor bowl is terrible. I was there, I'm ashamed to admit it, then did a full retrofit with projectors

Did the liquid give you superpowers?

I practically live on Mazda forums and I haven't seen anything about that. Do you have true oem HIDs?

I'm not sure I'm picking up what you're putting down. All Mazda 3s come with "projectors." The HID setups are different from the halogen bulbs but still similar. Did I go out and spend $400 on an oem hid setup? No. Am I blinding every car that drives toward me? No. I spent $40 and so far the car hasn't burned down. If it does, I have insurance.

Yeah, smells like gatorade mixed with coolant. I would assume the drop that landed in my driveway is killing the earth, as we speak.

HID's in a halogen reflector are awful. Lots of cars had OE HID's in a reflector, my STI for one. HID's in a halogen projector isn't as bad, but its still bad. Lots of hot spots and glare.

HID's in a halogen projector still suck. Lots of glare and uneven output. Retrofit them if you want to do it right. Otherwise, your pissing everyone off and aren't getting much better visibility than good halogens would've given you.

I can't have halogen beams when I stance it. That would look stupid.

Unfortunately not... I did a retrofit using HID projectors, and I chose the Honda ballasts, because they warm up faster than any of the other ones I've seen.
The Bosch relays came from my pile of old Volvo relays that has migrated with me, while living in three different states.
I'll try and get a lights-on pic in a little while.

I'm pretty sure they all use ballasts. If you have any flicker you can install capacitors to try eliminating that.
